die with memories not dreams

When we know what we want to say but we don't know how, we find pieces of art that say it for us. Like the highlighted lines in the books we read or the lyrics to our favorite songs that move us so much we tattoo them on our bodies. We turn to art that can speak for us. There are songs I wish I wrote, but didn't, so I learn the words. I think the coolest thing about that is it makes you realize other people have felt the exact same way that you do.

Do you remember what it felt like to read your favorite book, watch your favorite movie, or hear your favorite song for the first time? Can you recall how you felt the moment you realized something was now your favorite? I wish life could be a constant replication of that feeling. Whatever your expectations were, somehow your favorites exceeded them. One of lifes sweetest surprises. I hope to make people feel that way with whatever I create. Not that taking a few photos or writing a few blog posts is that monumental, but we all have to start somewhere. There are so many things I want to, not just accomplish, but succeed in. So many lives I want to live, people and places I want to love and see. So many passions I have picked up and set back down time and time again. The stars will go out before I am done adding to the collection of lives I wish to live.

One of the more constant passions in my life has been taking photos and videos. Whether I am in front of or behind the camera, the artistry of photography and film making has always excited me. It's hard not to want to be an artist with so many muses all around me. They come in the form of my friends and how we aren't afraid to be loud with our laughter. The way love doesn't have to (but it also can) kiss you in the rain in order to restore, inspire, or listen to you. It can be finding expression in subtle nuances of shared gazes and how fluent unspoken understanding can be. Or, as simple as the grin you exchanged with some stranger on your walk to class. Muses are everywhere and I love finding new ones every day.

I think photos and videos are such a great way to showcase and express the many details life offers us. Capturing your favorite moments so that you are able to go back and relive a little taste of what it felt like to discover them. The easiest way to time travel is to look at an old photo of a special moment. I find such joy in having a hand in others being able to do that. With that being said, I would love to capture moments in time you'd like to travel back to. :)

Thanks for reading my first post!!!!
